The conditions we care for
Dr Evans specialises in surgery through the laparoscope (keyhole
surgery). This type of surgery is especially useful for women with:
- Endometriosis
- Pelvic Pain
- Fibroids
- Heavy periods
- Ovarian cysts
Dr Evans does not offer regular gynaecological checks. These can usually be done with your general practitioner.
Our surgical experience
Dr Evans personally performs around 180 laparoscopies per year. She is actively involved in regular continuing education to ensure that the treatment options you are offered are up to date and most appropriate to your needs. All surgery has risks associated with it, and it is never possible to promise that surgical complications will not occur. However, your safety is our highest priority.
Who will I speak to?
Mrs Diana Morgan, is a registered nurse and midwife, who has worked in both the United Kingdom and Australia. Her friendly and caring nature has been an asset to our practice for more than 13 years. She has a good understanding of our patients’ medical conditions and is a valued part of our team. Diana usually works on Mondays and Thursdays.

Karen Palmer joined our practice after 21 years in the dental nursing industry, with a background in surgical dental nursing, front desk and practice management. Karen enjoys making our patients experience at our rooms and when they go into hospital as smooth as possible. We are very grateful for the contribution she has made to our practice. Karen usually works on Tuesdays and Fridays.

Mrs Jane Marsh is a registered nurse who has helped families through health crisis situations for 25 years. Jane works with us on Monday mornings as our Specialist Endometriosis Nurse. As an endometriosis sufferer herself, she knows first-hand the impact endometriosis can have. As the mother of 2 daughters she is passionate about educating young women and their families about endometriosis. In 2008, Jane was awarded the South Australian Nursing Premiers Scholarship to look at global trends in endometriosis management and observe a school based endometriosis education programme. Her email address for our endometriosis patients is jane@ecca.com.au
Transport
38 The Parade is a bluestone cottage located on the south side of The Parade in Norwood near the corner of Sydenham Rd. When travelling from the city, it is just before the Sydenham Rd corner. Bus Routes 122, 123, and 125 leave Currie St in the city and pass our rooms. You should get off at bus stop 6. There is parking along Sydenham Rd. Please tell us before your visit if you require disabled access, and we will be happy to explain the best route for you.
Preparation for your visit
If your visit is for endometriosis or pelvic pain, you may wish to read our book before your visit. If so, Diana or Karen can arrange to have a book posted to you when you ring to make an appointment.
What to bring with you to an appointment
You should bring a referral from your doctor.
If you have had any previous surgery, particularly if this was for endometriosis, then a copy of your operation record is very useful. Please ask our staff how you can obtain this information, if you do not have a copy yourself.
We are also very pleased to see photos from your previous surgery if you have them.
Please feel comfortable bringing your partner, a friend, or a family member with you. It can be difficult to remember all the things we discuss, and it will make it easier for you to discuss the treatments offered later on.
How much will my consultation cost?
Consultations and surgical procedures are charged at rates similar to those recommended by the Australian Medical Association as fair and reasonable. This does involve an out-of-pocket expense to you. Please feel comfortable discussing this with us. Dr Evans does not have public hospital operating lists, but women without insurance may choose to meet the costs of their surgery themselves.
Suggestions
If at any time you have any comments regarding your care (whether positive or negative), we encourage you to do so. We appreciate feedback and continually work on providing the best care we can for all our patients.
